Previously: Vocalist and harmonica player John Nemeth continues to build buzz following the release of his latest Blind Pig Records CD, Name The Day! John will soon appear on cable television program Memphis Beat in an upcoming episode of the cop drama.
The show, which airs on TNT, follows a Memphis police detective with a passion for Blues music, played by Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl.) Show producers at one time actually considered the name "Memphis Blues," but ultimately made the change. Musicians, including Nemeth, have been getting involved in the show in rapid succession. Keb' Mo' created original music for the show. Robert Randolph and the Family Band perform and star in the music video for the track "Memphis Beat," crafted to promote the show.
Nemeth will sing and appear in the sixth episode of the series, "Suspicious Minds," which is set to air on July 27th. Evyean Klean, music supervisor for Memphis Beat was quoted in a press release as saying "As soon as I heard John I knew he would kill 'Who's Been Talking," a Howlin' Wolf number that Nemeth will perform for the episode. Klean lobbied to get Nemeth an on-camera role after seeing him lay the track down in the studio.
